The ongoing orientation activity is carried out through continuous monitoring actions performed by the Tutor faculty members in collaboration with the Degree Program Coordinator.
The specific purpose of ongoing orientation is to support students in completing their degree program and to guide them along an educational path that best suits their needs and aligns with their career objectives. This orientation activity also involves the Internship Office, whose support is crucial for the selection of the mandatory internship activity scheduled for the second year of the program (first semester).
To efficiently manage this phase of orientation, students are encouraged to maintain continuous dialogue with their Tutors and the Degree Program faculty in order to highlight any doubts or difficulties. The support provided to students throughout their university studies is particularly realized through the following services:
- Assistance in compiling study plans, especially to identify elective activities;
- Support for issues related to exam registration and grade recording;
- Assistance in identifying, activating, and managing curricular internships.
Additional initiatives are undertaken by the students themselves within the framework of the P2P Project of the Department of Economics at the University of Messina. This is an integrated system of services, actions, and orientation initiatives, both at entry and ongoing stages, aimed at various groups (freshmen, on-time and delayed students, international students, students with disabilities). This project is part of the broader orientation and tutoring framework developed by the Department of Economics in collaboration with the University’s Orientation and Placement Center (C.O.P.). It consists of a series of interconnected initiatives inspired by the so-called peer education approach—an educational strategy aimed at activating a spontaneous process of knowledge, emotional, and experience sharing among members of a group with equal status, characterized by a strong pursuit of authenticity and harmony among the participants. These initiatives do not replace but rather complement the tutoring activities already conducted at the departmental level and by individual faculty members.
